GREENMAX & EnviroWaste Jointly promote the recycling of polystyrene waste in New Zealand

EnviroWaste Services Limited, a company providing waste collection and recycling services, was originally established in July 1995 by combining the waste disposal operations carried out in Auckland by Northern Disposal Systems Limited, a 100% owned subsidiary of Infrastructure Auckland, and the waste collection businesses operating in the South Island by Fulton Hogan Limited. EnviroWaste’s facilities and operations have long been recognized as being amongst New Zealand’s most environmentally responsible.

Before 2017, EnviroWaste only collected the waste polystyrene but did not handle it, and the waste polystyrene was collected by EnviroWaste and be sent to Visypak or Expol or to landfill, most waste polystyrene could not be effectively recycled and reused. In June 2017, EnviroWaste found GREENMAX and wanted to invest in GREENMAX's waste polystyrene compactor and set up waste polystyrene recycling solution.

At that time, the recycling of waste polystyrene was not very common in New Zealand, and the amount of waste polystyrene collected by EnviroWaste was not very large. Most waste polystyrene was mixed with general waste and was difficult to separate. EnviroWaste decided not to recycle it separately. Later, the project was shelved.

Until April 2021, EnviroWaste received Timaru's recycling contract to process some waste polystyrene such as packaging and fish boxes. The contract will start on July 1, 2021. EnviroWaste has found GREENMAX again and wants to learn more about waste polystyrene recycling programs. According to Allister, the person in charge of EnviroWaste, EnviroWaste needs to deal with waste polystyrenes packaging materials and fish boxes. GREENMAX recommended the Polystyrene Melting Machine M-C200.

The GREENMAX Polystyrene Melting Machine can effectively reduce the volume of waste polystyrene, with a compression ratio of 90:1, and all the compressed waste polystyrene can be bought back by GREENMAX for reprocessing and granulating into photo frames, construction frame strips, and other products. With the joint efforts of EnviroWaste and GreenMax, the recycling of waste polystyrene in New Zealand is known to more people. Although the recycling rate of waste polystyrene in New Zealand is only 10%~20%, we hope that it can be increased to 50%~60% or even 100% through more advanced technology and stronger awareness. GREENMAX will do its best to reduce landfills and incineration of garbage to develop a green circular economy.
